Australian Vocational Student Prize

The Australian Vocational Student Prize (AVSP) is awarded annually to up to 500 outstanding Year 12 students who have undertaken a Vocational Education and Training in Schools program or an Australian School-based Apprenticeship as part of their senior secondary certificate.
Students can be nominated by their school principal, teacher for a Vocational Education and Training coordinator and, if successful, are awarded a $2000 prize.
The highest achieving AVSP winners are also eligible for the Prime Minister’s Award for Skills Excellence in School, with an additional $2000 for the winners.
The AVSP promotes the value of gaining vocational skills while at school and recognises the important role vocational education plays in preparing students for the challenges of further training and employment.

This is a short survey about young people’s experiences of mobile phone service companies (e.g. Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, etc.). Your answers are confidential and we will not collect any personal information about you.
The questions are from Year 11 and Year 12 students who are currently taking part in the Youth Advocates Project (YAP) in Victoria, which ACCAN runs with the Brotherhood of St. Laurence. They are investigating the mobile phone industry to see if it offers fair and affordable services for young people in Australia. They will use the results of this survey to create recommendations for changes to the mobile phone industry, which they will present at an event in Melbourne on 30 August 2011.

It is designed as a portal to help guide users through various options available to them as well as link in with State and Territory Government initiatives being implemented under the National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions.

The Youth Development and Support Program provides small grants to community-based organisations to conduct small-scale projects that engage young people in activities that develop their personal skills to support their transition to independence and adulthood, as well as providing an avenue for greater community involvement.

Street Legacy dance competition – Auditions
On Friday 25 March 2011, 4-8pm crew and solo battle auditions will be held for an opportunity to compete at the official Liverpool Youth Week event Street Legacy. Triple Threat Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament on Saturday, 2 April, 10am-4pm enjoy an action packed day of entertainment to celebrate Youth Week 2011 at The Street University, 1 Speed Street, Liverpool. The free youth event includes three-on-three mixed basketball competitions, games, live music featuring local rappers, break-dancers and DJs. A free sausage sizzle will be provided and plenty of prizes including vouchers and basketball give-aways to be won on the day.
