The Australian Training Awards are the peak, national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, recognising and rewarding organisations and individuals for their outstanding contribution to skilling Australia. A majority of the awards presented at the Australian Training Awards are the culmination of the state and territory training awards with winners from each state and territory eligible to compete at the national finals. There are also awards available as direct entry to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations such as the Employer of the Year Award*, the International Training Provider of the Year Award** and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Australian Vocational Student Prize nominations now open!

Nominations for the 2011 Australian Vocational Student Prize (AVSP) are now open! Each year, up to 500 outstanding Year 12 students, who have undertaken a Vocational Education and Training in Schools program or an Australian School-based Apprenticeship as part of their senior secondary certificate, are awarded the prize.

Students can be nominated by their school principal, teacher for a Vocational Education and Training coordinator and, if successful, are awarded a $2000 prize. Nominations for the AVSP close 2 December 2011.
