Public Consultations on the AYF Model
From March to May 2008, around 900 young people and representatives from 140 organisations that work with and for young people told us how the AYF should work. 54 written submissions from both individuals and youth organisations were also received.
Consultations were held in all capital cities and in ten regional centres across Australia. They included young people from all different backgrounds, including Indigenous young people.
The AYF was also discussed at the final meeting of the 2007 National Youth Roundtable and at the 2020 Youth Summit held in April 2008, where participants provided their ideas on ways the Government should connect with young people.
The results of the consultations conducted by United Nations Youth Association (UNYA) as part of the YouthSpeak Survey were also incorporated into the outcomes of the AYF consultation process and considered in the development of the AYF model.
The opinions and advice from all these people and sources were considered in the development of the AYF.
The results can be found on the consultation outcomes page.
