Youth Engagement Steering Committee
The Youth Engagement Steering Committee consists of eleven young people (six representing youth-led organisations, four individual young people and an ex-officio representative of the national youth peak body, the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition).
The Youth Engagement Steering Committee represents the diversity of young Australians, from regional and city areas, Indigenous and non-English speaking backgrounds, and from different states and territories. Members of the Steering Committee were aged from 15-24 years at the time of selection.
The Steering Committee will provide advice to the Minister on the further development of the AYF and future youth engagement activities, propose issues for discussion at forums, provide advice on the AYF website and will evaluate strategies. They will also advise the Minister on ways of involving young people who face particular obstacles to participation.
Information on the current Youth Engagement Steering Committee is now available. These young people were selected through an open selection process and the Steering Committee was appointed by the Minister for Youth in December 2009.Meet the members of the 2009-10 Youth Engagement Steering Committee
