Minister for Youth Dr Anne Aly announced the appointment of 40 young people to five Youth Advisory Groups. The groups will work with the Government on the issues that matter to them.
This week the Youth Advisory Group members will travel to Parliament for their first meetings with Ministers and government agencies.
Aged 16 to 24, members were selected from more than 930 applications from across Australia, representing the breadth of diversity of young Australians and their experiences.
Minister Aly said that young people make up 15% of our population.
“For too long they haven’t had the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to national policies and programs.
“I’m looking forward to working with all members of the Advisory Groups and seeing what we can do to improve the lives of young Australians together.”
