Meet our 2026 Mental Health Youth Advisory Group!

meet our 2026 mental health youth advisory group

After coming together for the first time in-person at Youth Meets Parliament Week, let’s meet more of our newest members!

The Mental Health Youth Advisory Group have already jumped straight into business, planning this year’s areas for focus their working partner the National Mental Health Commission.

The group’s work plan spotlights ideas to:

  • Embed youth voices in the design and development of a resource, aiming to help young people understand how language can unintentionally reinforce stigma around mental health. They’ll offer strengths-based alternatives that are culturally relevant and accessible
  • Provide advice to government on reducing mental health stigma and discrimination among young people, and
  • Help inform the National Mental Health Commission’s broader work.

They already kick started this work by meeting with the Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, the Hon Emma McBride MP, to talk about issues like access to mental health support for people who face complex barriers.

The National Mental Health Commission provide evidence and advice to make continuous improvements to Australia’s mental health and suicide prevention system. Including a youth perspective to this work is imperative to generate actual change and we look forward to seeing how our advisory group can make an impact in this space.

Congratulations to an amazing start to the year – we can’t wait to see the work that you’ll deliver for young people around Australia.

Make sure to meet the members.
