Our commitment to child and young person safety

At the Office for Youth, we believe all children and young people have a right to feel safe and be safe.

The Office for Youth is committed ensuring the wellbeing and safety of every child and young person who has contact with our employees, contractors, consultants, officials and providers.

We have child safe policies and practices in place that demonstrate a clear commitment to keeping children and young people safe from abuse and neglect. We are committed to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The Office for Youth will not tolerate any mistreatment of children or young people in our care. To ensure this we have strict systems and processes that:

  • reduce the likelihood of harm to children and young people
  • increase the likelihood of identifying any harm to children and young people
  • identify risks of harm to children and young people early
  • remove and reduce risks of harm to children and young people swiftly
  • ensure we can respond to harm of children and young people by reporting to the appropriate authorities and providing support.
