This page provides an overview of the personal and/or sensitive information that the Office for Youth collects through various engagement activities.  

It also provides an overview of how this information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the Department of Education’s Privacy Policy

Collection of personal and sensitive information 

The Office for Youth within the Department of Education (the department) collects personal and/or sensitive information through a range of engagement activities.

This includes application forms, registration forms and evaluation surveys related to Office for Youth programs and events. There are also opportunities for you to engage with the Office for Youth through a contact us form and subscription to a newsletter. The Office for Youth also conducts an annual National Youth Survey.

Some of these activities involve the collection of personal and/or sensitive information. These activities each require review and consent of a related privacy statement to participate.

What is personal and sensitive information?

Personal information is information or an opinion about an identifiable individual. Personal information includes your name and contact details.

Sensitive information is a subset of personal information. It includes information or an opinion about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of associations or unions, sexual orientation or practices, criminal record, or health, genetic or biometric information.

Your personal information is protected by law, under the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act).
