Applications are now open for young people aged 16 to 25 to join the Australian Government’s new Youth Advisory Groups.

The Youth Advisory Groups are an opportunity to work with the Australian Government on issues that matter to you.

There will be five advisory groups:

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Promotion of STEM
  • Climate Change and Conference of the Parties (COP)
  • First Nations
  • Safe and Supported: The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021–31

Each advisory group will consist of 8 young people aged 16 to 25. You can apply for up to 2 advisory groups. Your application must clearly indicate which groups you are applying for.

You don’t need any previous experience to apply. We’re looking for diverse groups of young people from across the country.

Applications are open now and close at 5 pm AEDT on Sunday 12 February. Apply now at ayac.org.au.

We will let you know the outcome of your application in March.

The first committee meeting will be held in Canberra between 29 and 31 March.

The advisory groups will work independently of the Youth Steering Committee and bring additional insights of young people to government.
