Meet our 2026 Countering Foreign Interference Youth Advisory Group!

Introducing our countering foreign interference youth advisory group

The group are working with the Department of Home Affairs to support young people across Australia build their resilience to counter foreign interference.

Foreign interference is a threat to all areas of Australian society, which is why the Australian Government has implemented robust measures to combat such threats. This includes a new Foreign Interference Community Support Hub, launched last week to provide dedicated support and information to help Australian communities concerned about foreign interference.

Available resources on the Hub includes:

  • information on what foreign interference is and is not
  • animated videos explaining foreign interference
  • links to cyber security and online safety advice
  • links to support services (including mental health and legal aid providers)
  • tips to identify disinformation, and
  • guidance for members of the Australian community travelling overseas.

Staying informed helps protect our communities – which is why over the next year, our Youth Advisory Group will continue leading a youth perspective in this space. They’ll provide insights to help educate young people to better understand what foreign influence is and how it impacts us. This includes areas like education or on social media.

The group will also advise the Department of Home Affairs about how to make reporting mechanisms and relevant information accessible to young Australians.

We’re really excited to see the vital work this group will achieve. Check out the Countering Foreign Interference Youth Advisory Group members representing you.
