The Minister for Early Childhood Education and Youth, the Hon Dr Anne Aly has announced the recipients of grants to promote engagement with First Nations and Regional young people.
The Foundations for Young Australians (FYA) in partnership with the National Indigenous Young Education Coalition (NIYEC), and ABC’s Heywire program have received grants of $300,000 over four years.
FYA and NIYEC are developing and delivering a pilot Indigenous student voice and agency model that connects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to share their learning experiences and build leadership skills.
ABC’s Heywire program delivers and annual Summit and competition that gives young people living in regional and remote parts of Australia the opportunity to tell their stories to a national audience.
The grants are an important part of the Office for Youth’s Engage! strategy.
